Granado heads Ferrari on Day 1 in Jerez

FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup riders and teams got their 2020 preparations underway in Andalucia on Tuesday

Eric Granado (Avintia Esponsorama Racing) topped the timesheets on Day 1 at the Official FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup Test in Jerez, the Brazilian edging out 2019 Cup Winner Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE) by 0.084 seconds. WithU Motorsport’s Bradley Smith completed the top three as MotoE™ in 2020 got underway.

Back on board the Energica Ego Corsas for the first time since the 2019 Valencia finale, the riders had a few new things to try ahead of the 2020 campaign. A new Ohlins front fork has been introduced to try and help with cornering, with Michelin also providing new front and rear tyres for the new season. Moreover, the Energica Ego Corsas now have new airflow cooling for the batteries, which in turn helps them to be charged quicker, with Energica and Enel testing new safety measures which included a louder buzzer when the bikes enter pitlane.

After the three sessions on Tuesday, Mike Di Meglio (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) and the returning Niki Tuuli (Avant Ajo MotoE) – the Finn not 100% fit after a recent operation to remove screws – rounded out the first top five of the season.

The sessions on Wednesday will run at slightly different times:
Session 1 – 09:30 LT (GMT+1)
Session 2 – 13:00
Session 3 – 16:00
