The FIM MotoJunior World Championship promised, and on Sunday, it didn’t disappoint. First-time winners relished the limelight on a fantastic day of racing in Estoril, with maiden podiums claimed throughout proceedings on the Portuguese Riviera.
Moto3 Junior World Championship
Indonesia’s Kiandra Ramadhipa (Honda Asia-Dream Racing Junior Team) claimed a sensational win in an electrifying sole race in the Moto3 Junior World Championship, deservedly stepping onto the top of the rostrum for the very first time.
Taking it right down to the wire were Travis Borg (Team Monlau Motul) and Carlos Cano (CFMoto Aspar Junior Team), who joined the #32 on the podium. It was a second P2 finish for the Maltese rider this year, while Cano finally got a taste of the podium in Moto3 Junior after missing out by the narrowest of margins in the opening round in Barcelona.
Momoven Moto4 European Cup
Both Momoven Moto4 European Cup races in Estoril delivered excitement from start to finish, as we’ve come to expect from the competition. In Race 1, Alvaro Lucas (CFMoto Aspar Junior Team) continued as he left off at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, adding to his exploits in the season opener with a win. He was joined on the podium by Edoardo Savino (Leopard Junior) who made it back-to-back P2 finishes. Filipino rider Alfonsi Daquigan (Honda Asia-Dream Racing Junior Team) completed the podium after holding off Mateo Marulanda (AC Racing Team).
Race 2 saw early drama with a technical issue on the grid ending Edoardo Savino’s dreams of a third consecutive podium. Alvaro Lucas displayed awe-inspiring class once again to make it 75 points from a possible 75 this season, with Lorenzo Pritelli (Team Echovit Pasini Racing) coming in P2 and a maiden podium for Victor Cubeles (Team Impala Honda) to round off the weekend in the Moto4 European Cup.
Moto2 European Championship
Milan Pawelec (AGR Team) took the opening win of the weekend in the Moto2 ECh, extending his Championship advantage after displaying impressive late race pace.
Eric Fernandez (Fau55teyRacing) and Unai Orradre (Momoven Racing) completed the podium following an epic battle as Orradre recovered from P24 on the grid.
Dennis Foggia (Team Ciatti – Boscoscuro) was another rider who scored solid points despite penalties, working his way to P6 after starting from P25.
In Race 2, Fernandez wrote the headlines, defeating Orradre in an epic final lap duel. Orradre finished just 0.074 seconds behind, adding to Sunday’s spectacle as Foggia completed the podium.
There was drama for Pawelec, who crashed from the lead with seven laps remaining – crossing the line in P9 and handing Orradre the Championship lead.
Stock European Championship
The Stock ECh provided one of the highlights of the weekend as Yeray Ruiz (Team Honda Laglisse FPS) took victory by 0.001 seconds in yet another Estoril photo finish.
Ruiz was challenged by polesitter Miguel Bernal (MDR Competicion) as the rookie showed his talent once again – narrowly missing out.
Blai Trias (GV Tamoil Racing) rounded out the top three finishers, adding to his podium tally, with the #62 holding just a four-point advantage in the Championship standings.
