Team owner and top 125cc rider Lucio Cecchinello is one of the true personalities of the Grand Prix paddock. He began racing in 1989 in the Italian Sports Production Championship before moving into the European Championship in '91 and, two years later, progressing to Grand Prix. After year away from the World Championship he returned in '96 and has taken two race wins and 11 podiums in the six seasons since. Outside of racing Cecchinello is also interested in economy and computers, although he will have little spare time in 2002 as he looks for success on two fronts: in the 125 class where he will race alongside Alex de Angelis and in 250 where he will watch over David Checa and Casey Stoner.
