Recruited by the Aprilia Germany team for the 2005 season, Martin Cardenas will be the first Colombian rider ever to line up in the World Championships. The 22 year-old from Medellin won several motocross titles in the 80cc and 125cc classes before switching to road racing. In 2002, he made his debut on European soil, entering the last two rounds of the Spanish Championship. Seventh overall in 2003, he clinched the Spanish Supersport title last year after taking three wins out of seven rounds.
