Dennis Foggia (Leopard Racing) has made a statement in FP1 for Round 8 of the Moto3™ season at the Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley. While slipstreaming tends to be the way at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, Foggia was quick throughout the session when running on his own, with a best lap of 1:56.916 near the end.
In fact, the Italian was at least 0.367 seconds quicker than either of the Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max team-mates, John McPhee and Ayumu Sasaki, who ended up second and third respectively. Their personal-best laps were both completed with the help of a tow, in the same train of bikes, with McPhee setting a 1:57.283 and Sasaki a 1:57.394. In what had been a Honda-dominated session at one point, KTM-mounted Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets – MSI) finished fourth on a 1:57.850.

Tatsuki Suzuki rounded out the top five on the other Leopard Racing Honda, with Izan Guevara (Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team) seventh, Jaume Masia (Red Bull KTM Ajo) 11th, and World Championship leader Sergio Garcia (Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team) 14th after the first 40 minutes of practice.
