Pedro Acosta conquista il terzo successo consecutivo nella Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup in Austria riuscendo a battere gli avversari nelle ultime curve in una gara ridotta a 16 giri a causa della pioggia che ha visto il posticipo del via.
Acosta, partito dalla pole, ha guidato il gruppo di testa di cinque piloti per gran parte della gara. Alla fine, e come di consueto nella Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup, il podio è stato deciso alle ultime curve, dove lo spagnolo ha saputo imporsi su Daniel Holgado e David Muñoz, rispettivamente secondo e terzo. Alle loro spalle, il quarto posto è stato conquistato da David Alonso.
Anche Ivan Ortola è autore di una grande prestazione al Red Bull Ring e chiude il gruppo di testa al quinto posto seguito dal debuttante Daniel Muñoz, risalito dopo essere scattato dalla decima posizione. A chiudere la top 10 ci son David Salvador, Billy van Eerde, Zonta van den Goorbergh e Noah Dettwiler.
Peccato per Alex Escrig che deve scontare due penalità dopo per aver superato i limiti della pista mentre era in lotta per la settima posizione. Il valenciano, partito dalla seconda fila dello schieramento, finisce al 13° posto.
Con questa terza vittoria Pedro Acosta consolida la sua leadership in campionato con 75 punti, seguito da David Muñoz a quota 56 e Daniel Holgado a 52. La Top 5 è completata da David Alonso (39) e Daniel Muñoz (21) che dopo l’evento di questo sabato scala cinque posizioni. La prossima gara della Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup si svolgerà domenica 23 agosto alle 15:30 (GMT+2).

He got in front of fellow countryman, 14-year-old David Muñoz this time and Muñoz knows why. "The bike was moving around a lot towards the end, the rear was making it quite difficult. I don't know if we will change something for tomorrow or not, I'll talk to the technical guys, we don't want to make it worse."
SOME PROGRESS
Alonso, the 14-year-old Colombian, was not upset with another 4th. "That's OK, the races are getting faster and I could still match the pace so that's good. It was quite aggressive in the middle of the race but I managed that OK as well. It all comes down to the last lap, I was 6th and I got through to 4th. I have got to work out how to do even better at the end tomorrow."
SOME DISAPPOINTMENT
Again it was the newbies who were closest to Acosta. 18-year-old Australian Billy van Eerde did manage to lead mid-race. "At least that's something. I'm happy about that and happy that we have the pace to run in the front of the group but late in the race I lost it and couldn't get it back. I still need to do more and be able to be at the front all the way."
So keen was van Eerde to get back to the front that he exceeded track limits too often and a post-race three second penalty dropped him from 8th where he crossed the line to 11th and just 5 points.
