Garzo disqualified from MotoE™ Race 1

Spaniard finished P2 to force a final race title showdown with Ferrari and Smith, but low tyre pressures mean he no longer keeps the result

Tech 3 E-Racing’s Hector Garzo has been disqualified from FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup Race 1 at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana due to low tyre pressures.

The Spaniard finished P2 after a phenomenal battle with race winner Eric Granado (Avintia Esponsorama Racing) and Bradley Smith (One Energy Racing), which meant Garzo, Smith and fourth place finisher Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE) were heading into a Race 2 title-decider on Sunday.

However, Garzo has now been disqualified from Race 1, meaning Ferrari gets promoted to P3 which sees the Italian and Smith head into Sunday’s race as the only title contenders. Click this link to see the official sanction.

Watch the MotoE™ title-decider at 15:30 local time (GMT+1).
