The MotoGP™ World Championship returns to the fray from the 17-19 of July with the Red Bull Grand Prix of Spain at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, with the classic track hosting the Red Bull Grand Prix of Andalusia a week after.
The return of MotoGP™ to such an iconic setting will allow people to rediscover the charms of Andalusia and, more specifically, the province of Cadiz – a place steeped in history. Sheltered from the sea and marked by the unique charm of its people, Cadiz is an idyllic holiday destination for a number of reasons. Seville, the capital brimming with culture, the countryside of Jerez de la Frontera and the coast between Sanlucar de Barrameda, Tarifa and Gibraltar.
On its Atlantic coast, the long, fine sandy beaches of the Costa de la Luz are a standout. Some are more urban while others are nestled away, such as the locations El Puerto de Santa Maria, Caños de Meca or Barbate – around 260km of dreamy beaches. In its municipalities, there’s also Rota, Chipiona, Chiclana or Conil de la Frontera, where you can also savour an exquisite cuisine in which fish and seafood have a logical presence.
Meanwhile, Tarifa will give you the opportunity to give water sports a try, such as windsurfing or kitesurfing. A little further south, in Strait of Gibraltar, you can relax by visiting two natural parks: Los Alcornocales – considered the best-preserved forest in Europe – and the one in the Strait.
If the beach and water aren’t for you, then don’t worry, there are other incredible alternatives, such as the wineries of Jerez, the Ruta del Toro or the Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos, which fills the Sierra de Cadiz with light. Its towns such as Arcos de la Frontera, Ubrique, El Bosque and Prado del Rey stand out for their beauty and if that wasn’t enough, the route also goes into the Grazalema Natural Park.
Each corner of the region is marked by its rich history, where Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans left their mark before the Muslim conquest, giving their landscapes an even more special value. From north to east and from the sea to the mountains, Cadiz can steal your heart as the engines get ready to roar again.
