ドゥカティ・レノボ・チームのフランチェスコ・バグナイアは、第５戦ポルトガルＧＰのウォームアップ走行前にサーキット内のメディカルセンターを訪れ、公式予選１で転倒した際に強打した右肩の診断を受け、まだ痛みがあるが、医師団から『FIT（フィット）』、出走の許可が下った。
フリー走行総合１３番手により、今季３度目の公式予選１に出走すると、ウェットタイヤでスタートした後、１ラップを終わらずに、スリックタイヤを装着したバイクに乗り換えることを判断したが、３ラップ目の１コーナーで週末２度目、今季４度目の転倒。
メディカルセンターに搬送されて検査を受けた後、骨折は確認されなかったが、近郊の病院で精密検査を受けた結果、骨折がないことを再確認。一晩安静に休んだ後、ウォームアップ走行前にメディカルセンターを訪れた。決勝レースは、９列目２５番グリッドからスタートする。
