Rain halts Acosta's Jerez MotoGP™ outing

Weather conditions meant the 2022 Moto2™ Rookie of the Year couldn’t enjoy a few laps on KTM’s RC16 in Andalucia

An end of year treat sadly wasn’t to be for Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) as rain meant he couldn’t head out on KTM’s RC16 MotoGP™ machine for a few laps of the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto at the end of a private test day.

Acosta was in Jerez for a private test alongside new teammate Albert Arenas, Moto3™ Red Bull KTM Ajo riders Deniz Öncü and Jose Antonio Rueda, plus three-time World Champion and KTM Test Rider Dani Pedrosa. The MotoGP™ outing for the 2021 Moto3™ World Champion couldn’t come to fruition, but it was a solid day’s work on board his Moto2™ bike nonetheless – 76 laps were completed in preparation for 2023.

The opening Moto2™ and Moto3™ Official Test of the 2023 campaign will take place in Portimao from the 17th to 19th of March, shortly after Acosta and Arenas have taken part in another Jerez private test on the 14th and 15th of March.
