レプソル・ホンダ・チームは２日、ジョアン・ミルが第２戦アルゼンチンＧＰの『TISSOT Sprint（スプリント）』で６列目１８番グリッドから１ラップ目の７コーナーでハイサイドから今季３度目の転倒したことが原因で決勝レースを欠場すると発表。
ウォームアップ走行前のメディカルチェックで、頭部と頸部の外傷により、チャンピオンシップとサーキットの医師団から『UNFIT（不適切）』と宣言された。
初日のフリー走行１から１８番手、１３番手、７番手だったジョアン・ミルは、転倒後にサーキット内のメディカルセンターを経由して近郊の病院に搬送され、ＣＴスキャンや超音波検査を受けた結果、頚椎の生理的前弯が確認され、吐き気や目眩の症状があったが、強打した右足首の骨折は確認されなかった。
帰国して体調を整えることになったジョアン・ミルはソーシャルメディアを通じて、「昨日の激しいクラッシュの後、今日のレースに出走しない。骨折はないけど、安全のための最善の決断。応援ありがとう。アメリカズＧＰに向けて１００％回復するとき」とメッセージを配信した。
