Bezzecchi blows away the field in rain-soaked Warm Up

As rain threatens the Argentina Grand Prix it was a scramble to find the perfect wet setup ahead of the main event

It was a good start to Sunday at the Gran Premio Michelin® de la República Argentina for Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team), as he flew to the top of the timesheets during a wet Warm Up with a 1:45.354. The VR46 man was joined by his teammate Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) at the top, as the Italian set a time 0.409s away from the blistering pace set by Bezzecchi to put his VR46 Ducati in 2nd spot. It was no surprise either to see Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) finding good wet weather form as the Aussie finished Warm Up in P3.

With the Argentina Grand Prix just around the corner, the MotoGP™ grid hit the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit to fine-tune their wet setups with rain clouds looming over race day. The riders all managed to keep it upright in the difficult conditions, with the pace getting hotter and hotter as the riders found the grip out on the circuit. Bezzecchi sat comfortably at the top of the timesheets despite strong efforts from Marini, and Miller.

Towards the end of the session, Bezzecchi overtook Fabio Di Giannantonio (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) and towed his fellow Italian to 4th place as the Gresini set red and orange sectors with just a couple of minutes remaining. Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) also showed a strong wet-weather pace throughout the session and finished Warm Up in P5.

Takaaki Nakagami (IDEMISTU Honda Team Asia) was the top Hona in P6, as the championship leader Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) struggled in the wet conditions, 1.265s away from the top in P7. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) looked strong in the opening stages, but his struggles continue as the Frenchman finished the session 1.369s off the pace in P9.

The MotoGP™ grid will be back on track in Termas, but this time with 25 points up for grabs. Make sure to tune in as the action commences at 14:00 local time (GMT -3).
