Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) has been nominated for the coveted Laureus Comeback of the Year Award. The #93 has been through a rollercoaster since that fateful crash in 2020 set in motion a career-changing few seasons, but 2024 saw him back on the top step – winning three times – as the gamble to get more surgery and then change team and factory proved a winning combination.
It’s an unbelievable run of drama, heartbreak, suffering, determination and grit to get back to the top since Jerez 2020. Multiple surgeries and believing his career could be over. Three wins last year was the first pay off and that’s what has seen the six-time MotoGP champion get nominated for this award.
Now, in the wake of the season opener in 2025, we know there’s probably even more to come. Winning the first GP for the first time since 2014 and leading the standings for the first time since Valencia 2019 is a warning shot for the rest if ever there was – and next up it’s Argentina and Americas. Fans who’ve been along for the ride will remember a few Marquez moments there… watch this space!
