Ogura declared unfit for remainder of British GP

The Trackhouse star suffered a possible tibia fracture in Friday’s Turn 2 crash and will fly back to Barcelona for further checks

Ai Ogura (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) has been declared unfit for the remainder of the Tissot Grand Prix of the United Kingdom following Friday’s Turn 2 crash at Silverstone.

Trackhouse confirmed ahead of MotoGP FP2 on Saturday morning that Ogura has suffered a potential fracture to the top of his right tibia. The Japanese rookie has therefore been declared unfit for Saturday and Sunday’s action, and will travel back to Barcelona for further checks.

Speaking to motogp.com in FP2, Team Manager Davide Brivio provided an update on Ogura: “We waited today to see if the situation could improve but he woke up this morning and it got worse and worse. So we went back to the medical centre for further investigation and there's something on his right knee, something to the ligaments.

“Anyway, they decided it was better to have an RMI to go deeper in the investigation. He will go back to Barcelona and probably on Monday morning we'll go to Dr Charte, make a further investigation and then decide what to do, but anyway he's unfit for this weekend, that's for sure.”

Brivio also discussed whether we’ll see Ogura back on track at Aragon in just under a couple of weeks’ time.

“It's too early, honestly, I can't say. We have to see. Monday, Tuesday, we will know more, and we'll see. Also we have no reserve rider so he has to be back. It's a pity because it's something related I think yesterday it was a bit too cold, the temperature, the tyre and everything. It's a pity we have to interrupt this learning process but ok, we're hoping to get him back soon.”
