Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup champion in 2009, Jakub Kornfeil’s pedigree was already established prior to his full-time entry on the World Championship stage, as he took the prestigious title aged just 16. That season also saw Kornfeil ride five World Championship races, earning a seat for 2010 with Racing Team Germany in a campaign which produced a best result of fifth in his home GP at Brno. Kornfeil’s second season in the 125s saw the Czech rider on the Ongetta-Centro Seta team, after a promising debut in 2010. After finishing 12th that season, he remained with the team in the Moto3 championship. Following some promising performances he teamed up with the RW Racing GP team for 2013, only to be snapped up by Calvo Team for 2014. In 2015 he rides for the Sepang International Circuit team on a KTM, alongside Zulfahmi Khairuddin.
