Jonas Folger has been a hot topic of late as MotoGP™ returned to the scene of his stunning home podium last time out, and the latest sees MCN asking whether the German could become a Yamaha test rider. Recently on track testing for Moto2™ chassis manufacturer Kalex at MotorLand Aragon and at Brno, Folger has been back in the saddle on active duty – and MCN say that’s set to continue.
So how would it work? According to the paper, it would be as part of a new Europe-based test team for Yamaha – bringing the Iwata marque in line with the similar set-ups of Honda and Suzuki.
The article also highlights the words of Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) after Sunday’s German GP as a positive sign – with the rider from Tavullia having called Folger’s 2017 podium at the track ‘important’ in the fight to take to the rostrum this year.
