Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) says he’s keen on Esteban Garcia as his 2019 Crew Chief. The two already worked together in the past – achieving great success as they took the Moto3™ World Championship in 2013 – and the Spaniard thinks it could be the missing link.
“I’m keen on Esteban because in 2013 he made sure I got the best out of myself, and that’s what I need: a good understanding, to have a good relationship with him…as a rider that’s what I’m missing. Creating your team is important to be able to feel good and comfortable and to try and push myself to the maximum.”
The Spaniard was also asked about a possible rider coach, and although he’s not sure about the idea he did pick out 2009 125 World Champion Julian Simon.
“It would be difficult for them to teach me much but I’d like Julian Simon, I have a good relationship with him,” says Viñales. “He was very fast, he’s experienced, he’s won races and he knows me well – so let’s see if it’s a possibility.”
