Terol: MotoE™ bike “beautiful” to ride

2011 125cc World Champion Nico Terol spoke about Moto2™'s Jake Dixon and the upcoming MotoE™ campaign during the Spanish GP

During Moto2™ FP1 at the Gran Premio Red Bull de España, 2011 125cc World Champion and current Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup rider Nico Terol spoke to motogp.com about the absent Jake Dixon and the start of the MotoE™ Championship.

Terol first shared his thoughts on Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team Moto2™ rider Dixon, who missed the Americas and Spanish GPs after a crash in Austin left the British rookie with a concussion.

“Yes this winter I trained a lot with Jake (Dixon) and he’s an incredible rider and he has a good talent,” said Terol, who is an ever-present figure with the team, whether it be in the FIM CEV Repsol Championships or in the Grand Prix paddock.

“I’m sorry for him because I think this race for Jake is a good race because in the winter tests Jake was a fast rider,” continued the Spaniard, with Dixon finishing just 1.1 seconds off P1 during his second visit to Jerez in February. “At the moment Moto2™ is difficult but I’m happy because Jake, with this team, it’s possible to come up through the Championship.”

The conversation moved onto Terol’s plans for 2019, as he looks forward to taking part in the inaugural FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup which kicks off at the German GP. But first, the riders will partake in a test at Valencia – something Terol is eager for.

“Yes, we start MotoE in Valencia next month, the first test in a month more or less and I’m happy because the feeling Valencia is my home, I like the track a lot, and I’m very happy because the Championship is nice because we have very good riders, and the bike when I tried it here in Jerez was beautiful and I enjoyed it a lot when I rode here. I’m ready for the Championship.

“The test in Valencia is very important because we have a simulation of the race and we only have this test before the first race. But I like this track a lot and I’m ready.”

The MotoE™ riders will be in Valencia on the 17th June for a three-day test, before they take part in their first race weekend at the Sachsenring between 05-07 July.
