After a two-day test at Oschersleben for the Northern Talent Cup class of 2021, the time has come to swap testing for racing as the first round of the Cup’s second season appears on the horizon. Le Mans is the venue as the NTC races alongside MotoGP™ for the season opener, and there’s one rider arriving on a roll already: Rossi Moor (FAIRIUM Next Generation Riders Team).
The American-born Hungarian announced his arrival in the NTC in some style in testing, topping the timesheets and giving the veterans something to think about. But now it’s a new track and a very different stage, will he be able to hold his advantage?
Romanian Jacopo Hoscuic (Hos Racing Team) was second quickest as he showed he’s lost none of his speed during the winter break, and 2020 runner up Lorenz Luciano (Junior Black Knights Team) was third overall. They made some big impressions last season and will be the first candidates looking to depose Moor from the top.
Fellow proven quantities Jakub Gurecky (JRT Brno Circuit), Tibor Varga (Forty Racing Team), Stepan Zuda (Motoracing23 Klub V ACR), Niklas Kitzbichler (Racing-Team-Kitzbichler) and Jonas Kocourek (JRT Brno Circuit) were also back in the top ten as had become customary throughout 2020, and if testing at Oschersleben translates into similar close competition in France, there will likely be an almighty fight for the podium.
Le Mans is a new track for everyone in NTC trim and will put the grid through their paces on braking and acceleration, all on one of their biggest stages of the season. Will Moor continue his impressive pace once the lights go out for 15 laps? Or can the veterans fight back? Race 1 is on Saturday at 17:15 (GMT +2), before Race 2 on Sunday at 15:30.
