motorsport.com reports two new surgeries for Martin

The 2024 World Champion has reportedly undergone two further procedures as he aims to return to full fitness in 2026

motorsport.com is reporting that two further surgeries have recently been undertaken by 2024 World Champion Jorge Martin – although no public confirmation has yet been made by Martin nor his Aprilia Racing team.

The reports states that the recent procedures were on previous injuries, after Martin returned to action but found he wasn’t at 100%. Further tests showed the recoveries weren’t progressing quite as well as expected.

The article also says his participation in the Sepang Test may be in doubt – but that “does not mean Martin will be unable to travel to Malaysia”. As well testing, which is the official start of track action, fans will be keen to see the #89 at the 2026 Season Launch in Kuala Lumpur.

In terms of time on the bike, Martin’s goal is reportedly to be back fit for the Buriram Test the weekend before the PT Thai Grand Prix.

It was a tough 2025 for Martin as he got injured on the first day of testing at Sepang and then suffered several further misfortunes and injuries throughout the season. Ultimately, he was sidelined for more than half the Grands Prix. This year he’ll be aiming to start fit and really get to know the 2026 RS-GP as he aims to rebuild some momentum.
