Nachdem BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP bereits früher am Tag Daniel Holgado bekannt gegeben hatte, hat das Team nun seine komplette Aufstellung für 2027 bestätigt: Joan Mir wird am Ende der laufenden Saison von Honda HRC Castrol zu ihnen wechseln.
Nachdem er die letzten vier Saisons für den japanischen Giganten gefahren ist – eine Zeit, in der die Nummer 36 zwei Podiumsplätze holte –, wird das nächste Kapitel des MotoGP-Weltmeisters von 2020 bei Gresini Racing und Ducati beginnen. Das Team hat zudem einen neuen Mehrjahresvertrag bestätigt, um auch in der neuen Ära der MotoGP weiterhin mit den Maschinen der Marke aus Bologna anzutreten.
Außerdem hat BK8 Gresini Racing bestätigt, dass Mir 2027 auf einer Desmosedici in Werksspezifikation fahren wird – genau dem Motorrad, auf dem auch Marc Márquez und Pedro Acosta für das Ducati Lenovo Team an den Start gehen werden.
Mit seinen bisher 15 MotoGP-Podiumsplätzen, seinem MotoGP-Titelgewinn im Jahr 2020 und einem Platz unter den ersten Drei in der Meisterschaft 2021 bilden der 28-Jährige und Holgado ein spannendes Duo bei BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP, das eine starke Mischung aus Jugend und Erfahrung bietet.
