Lorenzo: “Barcelona is so special for me”

Jorge Lorenzo is hoping to take his fourth win of the season in his home race at the Catalan GP.

Jorge Lorenzo is looking to make it three wins in a row and extend his ten-point championship lead over Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya. Lorenzo always loves riding at his home race in front of his passionate fans at a track that he has won at four times previously (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015).

After the thrilling last lap at the Italian GP that saw Lorenzo out drag Marquez to the line by just 0.019s, the Mallorcan is feeling confident on his M1 and will be hoping to make it victory number four of the season in a manner similar to last year’s race, when he led from the first corner to the checkered flag. Lorenzo is also no stranger when it comes to getting involved in spectacular battles at Montmelo, with the duel between him and his teammate Valentino Rossi at the 2009 Catalan GP remembered as the “Battle of Barcelona”.

"I lived here for a long time here and I feel at home"

Jorge Lorenzo: “Here we are, at my home race. Barcelona is so special for me. It’s a track I love and most of my people are coming to this Grand Prix. I lived here for a long time and I feel at home. I’m still savouring my last win in Mugello, that one was so special because of the many ingredients that were mixed in. It was an important race for the championship. Now in Montmelo we need to add more points obviously but we will try to show our potential and try to fight again for the victory.”
