Redding: “I’m confident for the race”

Scott Redding was happy to have secured his place in the top ten on Friday at the Dutch GP, with the forecast for Saturday mixed.

Octo Pramac Yakhnich’s Redding enjoys the TT Circuit Assen, having scored two Moto2™ podiums at the track in the past (2012 & 2013). During Friday’s FP1 he gelled with his Ducati GP15 around the 4.5km track almost immediately, setting a 1’34.660 to end the session fourth fastest, just 0.311s off the pace of Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team) who topped the timesheets. Incredibly it was exactly the same time that his teammate, Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Yakhnich), managed.

"I think I could have taken another two tenths off my time..."

In the afternoon session he found almost half a second, improving to a 1’34.172, which saw him end the day in tenth overall, just 0.581s behind Iannone who once again set the pace in FP2. The British rider made it four Ducatis in the top ten on Friday and is feeling confident ahead of the race. Redding will return to action on Saturday morning at 9:55am local time in Assen for FP3.

Scott Redding: “We went very well in FP1 and we are also pleased with the result from FP2 because we got to work a lot on the setup. I think I could have taken another two tenths off my time, but we will try tomorrow. I’m confident for the race because my times are good even with the hard tire, but come race day it is always different so we have to go step by step.”
