The top five were all within half a second of each other during Warm Up, Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) leading the lay with a 1’38.033. Championship contender Sam Lowes (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) managed second ahead of championship rival Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport).
Franco Morbidelli (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) and pole setter Tom Luthi (Garage Plus Interwetten) completed the top five. Times are tight and with much of practice having been held in mixed conditions, predicting a winner will be difficult, especially if the rains hits.
Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) suffered a crash during the middle of the session at Turn 5.
