Dovizioso: “We’ll see who worked best on the whole 28 laps”

‘DesmoDovi’ loses pole position – but is confident of race pace

The Ducati Team domination of the Red Bull Ring was not quite a 1-2 for the Borgo Panigale factory, as Andrea Dovizioso was just knocked out of P2 by Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) in the last few seconds of the session. However Dovizioso, who celebrates his 250th GP start this weekend and becomes the youngest rider to do so, has had race pace on the brain for most of the weekend - and is satisfied a front row start puts him in a great position ahead of the race as he chases his second premier class victory.

Dovizioso: “I didn’t make a special lap”

Andrea Dovizioso (P3): “I’m not surprised by the result because I know that Iannone is very strong in qualifying. We tried to get pole but couldn’t. I didn’t do a perfect lap - I did a good lap time but not perfect. In any case, the front row is important for the race and I’m so happy about the weekend until now, because our pace for the race is really good. So we’ll see tomorrow who worked in the best way for the whole 28 laps…”
