Marquez will "push at the maximum" in Silverstone

Repsol Honda rider ready for another showdown as he defends his championship lead

Marc Marquez saw his title advantage grow once again at the Czech GP in Brno, as the Spaniard's key rival and defending champion Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) failed to score after a tyre problem. With his lead now up to an incredible 53 points - more than two victories' worth - the race is on for his rivals to catch him in the 7 remaining rounds of the season. Silverstone has been a good track for the two-time MotoGP™ world champion, with a P2 by a narrow margin to the same Lorenzo in 2013, followed by a reversal in the outcome of their duel in 2014. 2015 saw Marquez crash out in the wet, meaning every dry MotoGP™ race Marquez has competed in at the track has seen him fight for the win. With weather the unknown and a championship to think about, the rider from Cervera is ready for whatever the weather may bring - but more than willing to keep pushing despite his advantage.

Marc Marquez: “Silverstone is a place where the weather is generally quite unpredictable, meaning that cold and rain are variables you have to be prepared to face. We’ve encountered ‘mixed conditions’ situations more than once this year, and we saw how important it is to remain focused and make the right choices. We’ll see what happens during the weekend and we’ll try to manage the situation with the same mind-set that has gotten us this far. I like the track a lot; it has a slower first section but then there’s a series of ‘esses’ where it’s possible to make the difference if you find a good setup for the bike. I’ve always enjoyed racing there and we’ll push at the maximum to get the best result possible.”
