Viñales enjoys sweet taste of front row

Spaniard reflects after securing third place on the grid at the British GP

Throughout the weekend so far Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) has shown that he has the pace to fight for the front positions at Silverstone and on Saturday he confirmed his good form by setting the third fastest time of the MotoGP™ Q2 session.

Courtesy of a 2'20.514 time the Spanish rider will start the race from the front row of the grid for the third time this season. Viñales aims to get his second podium of the year, following the third position he achieved at Le Mans.

Maverick Viñales: “It was a very difficult session. In the last free practice I didn’t have much feeling with the bike. I really felt that I could fall on every corner, but in just half an hour the team worked very well and this has allowed me to ride a much better bike. But I really did not expect to qualify on the front row in the wet and even less so after PF4. When you've always been fast in the wet and then it starts to get more difficult it gives you a sweet taste when you get a result like this.”
