Vierge to be joined by Remy Gardner at Tech 3

Team announce 2017 Moto2™ line up as Vierge stays and Gardner steps in

Tech 3 Racing have announced their rider line up for their 2017 Moto2™ campaign, with Xavi Vierge remaining with the outfit; set to be joined in the team by Australian Remy Gardner.

Xavi Vierge, whose first full season in the Moto2™ world championship is 2016, graduated to the world stage from the FIM CEV Repsol Moto2™ championship, where he contested a successful campaign with Tech 3 in 2015 - taking the runner up spot just behind eventual champion Edgar Pons (Paginas Amarillas HP 40). Remy Gardner is another rider who is a recent face on the Moto2™ world championship stage in a full time capacity, as the Australian also comes up from the FIM CEV Repsol and gets ready for a full season with the Tech 3 squad in 2017.

Xavi Vierge: “I’m very happy to announce that I am staying with Tech3 for another year. I started the world championship with this team and at every race, I have improved my riding style and the crew has also advanced with me. I like this squad a lot because they are like my family. This is very positive for me and even more so for next year because, in racing there can be some tricky weekends but with the team being so close to me, it makes things easier to handle and I feel that this is the best place to be. I have to progress more in 2017 because it will be my second full season in the World Championship and with Tech3. I believe in the guys and they do in me so we are both pushing hard to reach our goals. I have to say thank you to Tech3 Racing and the sponsors for continuing to support me.”

Remy Gardner: “I am really excited to announce that I have signed with Hervé and the Tech3 Racing Team for 2017. The Mistral 610 is different compared to what most other guys are riding in Moto2 but everyone is looking for that extra edge now. When I watch the bike out on the track, I can see that it has very good potential so I’m delighted to have signed, plus I can’t wait for next season and to start the progress of developing the project further. From an outsiders perspective, it looks like the team is very structured and in all honesty, I couldn’t be any happier about joining Tech3.”

Hervé Poncharal, Team Manager: “I am extremely pleased to announce the 2017 Tech3 Racing Team line up. First of all, we are really proud to have retained Xavi Vierge for another year. Together, we finished second in the Spanish CEV championship in 2015, but furthermore, he has had a strong rookie campaign so far, and I believe the best is yet to come. In addition, we were very impressed by him when he set the fourth fastest lap time at the Czech Grand Prix, and furthermore, it was great news when he told us that he wanted to stay. I am also delighted about our second rider for 2017. Wayne Gardner and I have a long history together and we have been friends for many years, so it’s an incredible pleasure to have his son, Remy, join our project. I think he is one of the hottest young talents that is coming through the ranks and he has a bright future ahead of him. Hopefully, we can help him grow and I am sure we can achieve success together. I think we will have a very exciting partnership, with two young riders who are keen to race each other. I have to thank both of them for trusting us and hopefully we will see the first good result when we start testing after the season finale. Also, I want to say thanks to the whole Tech3 Moto2 team for their hard work, and say welcome to Remy, plus welcome back to Xavi for 2017 where for sure, we will have some great times together.”
