Rossi happy with front row - but undecided on tyres

9-time world champion starts home GP from P2 and is waiting to see conditions on Sunday

Movistar Yamaha MotoGP™ legend Valentino Rossi had a P2 lap time cancelled in Q2 at the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini for exceeding track limits, before pulling it out the bag in the final run and putting another low 1:32 lap together. Rossi, whose teammate Jorge Lorenzo starts from a record-breaking pole position, was the only man to get within half a second of his teammate over one lap for an important front row start, but race pace remains a question as the Italian legend seemingly remains one of the only riders yet to select his tyres for the 28 lap race - waiting to see how track conditions dawn on Sunday.

Valentino Rossi (P2): "I'm very happy for the second position to be on the front row, because it's always important in MotoGP™ but especially here in Misano where the track is very tight to overtake. During the weekend we've been a bit up and down fighting with the tyres and sometimes we found something that wasn't perfect, and at the end of FP4 we had a good lap time with the hard rear, which could be an option for tomorrow, but in the front the situation is very open. It depends on the conditions and the temperature tomorrow. So front row is good but we have to concentrate and fix some small details, then wait to see the conditions tomorrow and decide which tyre to use. Misano is very demanding for the tires because it's stop-and-go track."
