Laverty still in fight for top ten

Pull&Bear Aspar Team rider adds more points to his tally at Misano

Eugene Laverty has a top ten finish in the 2016 MotoGP™ World Championship standings in his sights after earning more points at the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

Laverty started from 16th place on the grid in Sunday’s race, and although he managed to climb a couple of places in the early laps, he never rose above 14th.

The Northern Irishman thus added two points to his haul and continues a scoring streak only interrupted by a blank at the Austrian GP. Laverty is still in the fight for the top ten overall, trailing by 12 points.

Eugene Laverty: “We had a consistent pace. I'm happy with the performance. I made a good start, put in some good early laps and my pace was between 1’34.7s and 1’35.5s. I stayed on my maximum for the entire race, but it wasn't quite enough. When I followed Scott Redding and Hector Barbera, in particular, I realised that the problem we have is with turning the bike. We struggled at Turn 1 and Turn 5, and it meant that I lost a lot of time in the tight sections. That is where we struggled this weekend and where we have to improve.”
