Back pain a concern for Iannone

Ducati Team rider to be assessed for fitness at Aragon after suffering micro-fracture of vertebra at Misano

Andrea Iannone will have a fitness check at the MotorLand Aragon medical centre on the eve of the first day of action at the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon, following his heavy crash at Misano two weeks ago.

The Ducati Team rider crashed during first free practice at the Italian circuit and missed the race that weekend having picked up a micro-fracture of the T3 vertebra.

Iannone is determined to ride at Aragon if his physical condition permits him to do so, but he is still experiencing discomfort from the back injury. Last year at Aragon he qualified on the front row and finished the race in fourth position.

He explains, “Over the last few days I’ve been trying my best to recover by resting after the crash at Misano, but I’ve still got a bit of pain in my back. We’ll see what the doctors say at Aragon, but for sure I’ll be trying to race and will try and do my best, as always. I hope to be in quite a good shape and to be able to keep the pain under control, because I think that this can be a positive circuit for us, seeing as we had a great race here last year.”
