#GiveMe5: Marquez celebrates title in Cervera

It's going down: they're yelling Marquez

Over five World Championships for Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), it has become a tradition for the Cervera native to return to his home town in Catalonia to celebrate his most recent title – and in 2016, for his third MotoGP™ crown in four years, it was no different: thousands of fans lined the streets to welcome back the 2016 MotoGP™ World Champion.

First greeting fans from the Town Hall in the afternoon, the party then got started later in the day with Marquez and his team on a parade through Cervera – with ants on stilts, drumming and music to accompany them – with the route ending in Plaza Pius XII as Marquez and his team took to the stage in front of the amassed chanting fans and their hundreds of 93 flags.

After a recap of the season and how Marquez took the title, the Spaniard introduced his family and his team and gave a speech from the stage – as well as asking for some contributions from those present who have been so pivotal in the number 93’s success - and thanked everyone who has been there along the way to his fifth World Championship victory, hoping to bring home a few more trophies in the future...

Marc Marquez: "I am very grateful to all the people who have come here today, once again, to celebrate in this great party. Before going to the Valencian Grand Prix, when I was cycling, I had already seen all the streets decked out with flags with my name on, and I began to feel butterflies in my stomach. I am very grateful, because these fans are not only there for me in the good times, they are also there in the bad times. It is an honour to receive these shows of affection and to be able to celebrate with all of the people here."
