MotoGP™ affiliated traumatology department 'best in Spain'

Barcelona hospital department voted best of its kind in 2016 survey - for the second consecutive time

The team of specialists that make up the traumatology team at the University Hospital Quirón Dexeus in Barcelona has been awarded for its high standards for the second year running. The traumatology service at the hospital has been chosen as the best in Spain in 2016 according to the IEH (Hospital Excellence Index), carried out under the umbrella of the Ministry of Health.

The prestigious department at the hospital includes Dr Xavier Mir, hand surgeon, Enric Cáceres, orthopedic specialist, and Ángel Charte, Internal Medicine specialist, who form part of the quick response team that has traveled to each round of MotoGP™ since its creation in 2012, supporting medical staff at each circuit.

Dr Xavier Mir: “It’s satisfying to have been given this recognition for the second time because it is very much connected to our position as doctors in the MotoGP™ World Championship. For us, it is a source of pride, because this 'know-how' has also been achieved thanks to our work done in MotoGP ™. Together with doctors Charte and Cáceres, we have also improved the collaboration of local doctors in each circuit, now the level is higher."

The second edition of the Hospital Excellence Index, IEH 2016, has been prepared by anonymously surveying almost 1,500 health professionals throughout Spain. The Index measures excellence based on the results and perceptions of professionals who work in the centers or in their environment, according to their field of specialization. The results transcend the total number of services offered in the centers, to instead focus on the quality and value of each.
