Pedrosa: “We still have some parts to test – and tyres”

Spaniard has mixed reactions to second day at Sepang

Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) completed 44 laps on day two of testing in Malaysia, after morning track time was interrupted by rain and a damp track. With action underway in the afternoon, Pedrosa, who had never ridden on the new asphalt at the venue until the test, concentrated on double-checking findings so far – as well as working on tyres and front forks.

The three-time World Champion put in a best lap of 2:00.886 on his 38th lap to go P14, and found some positive progress whilst also encountering a few extra challenges – some shared by his Repsol Honda teammate, Marc Marquez.

Dani Pedrosa, P14: “Today we had to wait for the track to dry and we started carefully at the beginning. With all the little issues we had yesterday we were double checking and trying to see if we were making a difference. We made some improvements. We didn’t completely solve everything but we are happier that we found a bit. Then, in the middle of the day, we found a different problem which Marc and I both suffer a lot – maybe why his bike stopped – and this will be sorted for the next tests. Today I was working with tyres and front forks, and today my best time was on an old tyre. The negative was that we couldn’t try to improve on a new tyre at the end. Tomorrow we hope to do better. We still have some parts to test, and more tyres.”
