Marquez: “Only Maverick is quicker than the rest”

The number 93 assesses Day 3 in Qatar

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) crashed three times on the final day of preseason. Taking P10 on the timesheets on the third day of the #QatarTest with a 1:54.990, the Spaniard admits some mistakes in the session – but is confident in the rhythm. The rider from Cervera also tried out a new “aero-fairing” on his Honda RC213V, after a less aggressive addition was tried earlier in the test.

Believing only top gun Maverick Viñales to currently hold an advantage at Qatar, the reigning Champion hopes to avoid the same errors in the race weekend – and thinks he could already fight for the podium were the lights to go out tomorrow.

MM93, P10: “I’m happy with the rhythm we’ve maintained, although it’s clear this wasn’t the best preseason test for us. I fell three times, the first time because of a vibration at Turn 4 that stopped me braking in time. After that, the front folded twice and especially the second – during the race simulation – was my fault. When you do a long run you should try and push, or you can’t truly understand where you are. In any case, it’s better that these things happen now during testing and I hope when we come back for the race we’ll be able to manage it better. As I said, our rhythm is quite good; on this track only Maverick is quicker than the rest and if we had to race tomorrow, I think we could fight for the podium.”
