Morbidelli: “I decided to push all the way to the finish”

It's a bossa nova for 2017 as EG 0,0 Marc VDS rider takes another victory in the Americas

Franco Morbidelli (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) said in the Saturday Press Conference at COTA that he often listens to Samba to get in the groove before the lights go out, but he’s less in 2/4 time in 2017 and more 3/3 – with a full 75 point haul from the first three races of the year.

Texas was another stunner, first escaping teammate Alex Marquez and then staging a final push to the finish to escape the clutches of key rival Tom Lüthi (CarXpert Interwetten) – with Jerez next up and the Italian looking to make it four out of four.

Franco Morbidelli, P1: “It’s an amazing start to the season. This is a great moment for me and the team, we are in fantastic shape for the Championship and I hope we can continue in this way. It was a nice battle with Álex early and then I tried pulling away and got a 1.5s gap and thought to just control the race. But I messed around too much and then I saw 0.5s to Lüthi so I decided to push all the way to the finish. I forgot about trying to control the race and just went for the win.”
