Here comes the sun: McPhee sets sights on Jerez

BTT back on European soil in southern Spain

The British Talent Team are on a roll in 2017. Fighting for the first two wins of the year and then cutting a valuable point off the Championship gap in Texas, John McPhee arrives in Jerez third in the title standings and only nine points off the top.

Jerez is a different challenge to the Circuit of the Americas, with a length of 4.4km and a longest straight of only 607m – half as long as that of Austin. There are five left-handers and eight right, with many named after Spanish legends past and present. The final corner, now named 'Jorge Lorenzo', has staged more than its fair share of last lap drama.

McPhee has three solid points finishes at the Circuito de Jerez on his record, and the venue is one at which the Moto3™ grid began their Official Testing this season with the BTT debuting in the top ten on the timesheets. One of the true classics on the calendar, the incredible atmosphere, layout and location make for a perfect start to the European leg of the MotoGP™ season.

John McPhee: “It’s been a great start to the Championship with two podiums and then cutting the Championship gap in Texas. Now I’m ready to head back to Europe and to Jerez, where we’ve already tested and we have a great base to start from. It’s also a track I like and I think it should be a good one for me and the team. Now my focus is on getting back on the podium, and being as strong as possible throughout every race like we know we can. It's a long year ahead but I'm excited for the challenge!”
