Martin: “I gave everything in the race”

Mugged of the lead on the last lap - but it’s another podium for the Del Conca Gresini Moto3 rider at the Catalan GP

Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) was pushing hard to keep his lead at the Catalan GP, but the Spaniard then got passed by key title rival Joan Mir (Leopard Racing) in the final sector – with Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) following Mir through the corner after. It may not have been Martin’s first Moto3™ win, but he claimed his fourth consecutive pole and took yet another podium – resetting the target to victory next time out at Assen; traditionally a good track for the Gresini rider.

Jorge Martin, P3: “I’m happy to be here again. I gave everything in the race but I was always struggling in the last sector and finally Mir could pass me – I didn’t expect it in that corner, I expected it in the next one. And then Fenati passed me. That moment was hard but I’m on the podium again so I’m happy. In the last three laps I was pushing so hard and had a bit of a gap but then Mir entered there. He did really well – and congratulations to him. Now Assen is always a good track for me, so I’ll try to push and win the race there.”
