McPhee primed to push for more on Sunday

Tough qualifying in tough conditions at the TT Circuit Assen

It was a difficult day at the Motul TT Assen for British Talent Team rider John McPhee, as the Scotsman found it tough going in the treacherous wet conditions that greeted the grid on Saturday.

In a wet FP3 session in the morning, McPhee suffered a crash from which he escaped unharmed, with the race then on to get to grips with the conditions. In qualifying, the Brit put in 14 laps looking to move as far up as possible – with his twelfth lap his fastest as a 2:01.510, only a few tenths off the top ten.

Packed in an incredibly tight midfield, McPhee will start P19 – but with conditions looking likely to change ahead of the race when Moto3™ head out on Sunday at 11:00 (GMT +2).

John McPhee, P19: "It's really disappointing to finish this far down in wet conditions. All day I've struggled for feeling from the bike and we weren't able to improve in qualifying. I've not had many wet sessions this year but clearly this is an area we need to work on. For tomorrow the forecast is still looking unclear but either way I'll be pushing 100% to be at the front."
