#StatAttack: Moto2™ and the #GermanGP

Some tidbits about the intermediate class before lights out

- Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marrc VDS) has won his fifth race from the eight opening races of the season; Jorge Lorenzo was the last rider to achieve this feat in the intermediate class, back in 2007.

- This was the third time this year that Morbidelli recorded the fastest lap, pole position and won the race (the others being Qatar and Austin).

- Last year in Germany, Morbidelli crashed while leading the wet weather race. He managed to re-start in eleventh but crashed again with two laps remaining.

- Tom Lüthi (CarXpert Interwetten) crossed the line in second in Assen; his 42nd podium finish in the Moto2™ class. Lüthi is the only rider who has scored points in every race this season so far.

- Lüthi made his Grand Prix debut at the Sachsenring back in 2002 when he was fifteen years old. Lüthi's best result in Moto2™ at Sachsenring is a fifth place (2011 and 2012). He crashed last year while he was eighth.

- Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) was third in the Netherlands, his third podium finish of the season. His best result at the Sachsenring was a seventh place in 2015.

- Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) crossed the line in fourth last year in Sachsenring, his best Moto2™ result at that time.

- Xavier Siméon (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2) crossed the line in seventh in Assen; his best result since Phillip Island in 2015 when he finished 5th.

- Simeon (2015) and Kiefer Racing's Dominique Aegerter (2014) are the only two riders who have won in Sachsenring in Moto2™ who are currently racing in the class. Simeon also started from pole position for the first time in his career back at the Sachsenring in 2013.

- Khairul Idham Pawi (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) won the Moto3™ race in Sachsenring last year. Three riders on the current Moto2™ grid have won in the lightweight class at this track: Pawi, Mattia Pasini (2006) and Sandro Cortese (2012).

- Tetsuta Nagashima (Teluru SAG Team) will be celebrating his 25th birthday on race day in Sachsenring.
