Pol Espargaro: “We just had simple bad luck”

KTM rider disappointed to leave the Red Bull Ring empty handed

Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) took KTM’s best finish in Brno in P9, but the Spaniard lost the chance to try and repeat it at their home race in Austria when a sensor on the rear brake failed, forcing him to retire.

The sting was even greater after having finished Warm Up in seventh – but the KTM charge is sure to continue at Silverstone, and the team also have a test at Misano ahead of the British GP.

Pol Espargaro, DNF: "I'm so disappointed for what has happened as we just had simple bad luck. We had the opportunity to show the world what KTM is doing with this great project after 7th in the warm up. I had the speed and pace but a sensor on the rear brake wasn't working so I had no rear brake from the first lap. Such a shame as it's our biggest race in front of this huge crowd but now we have a test in Misano, and then Silverstone for the next MotoGP."
