Folger: “We can show our true level at Silverstone”

MotoGP™ rookie set sights on a strong finish at Silverstone - where he took his first ever GP win

Heading into the Octo British Grand Prix, Jonas Folger (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) has the target of a top five finish firmly in sight, with previous victories at Silverstone a good omen for the German ahead of his first ride at the track in the premier class. After being forced to retire in the Austrian GP and losing some ground on his teammate Johann Zarco in the fight to be top rookie, the race is on to bounce back.

Folger can be optimistic about riding the Yamaha for the first time at Silverstone, with the manufacturer having won four of the seven MotoGP™ races since the British GP returned to the circuit in 2010. In addition, Folger took his first ever GP win at the track in the 125 World Championship - with solid pace as he gears up for a top five push.

Jonas Folger: "I really like the Silverstone track so after the unlucky weekend that we had in Austria, we are looking forward to the British Grand Prix where we will attack and try to clinch a good result. I am certain that we will come back in a strong way and we have to collect points because Brno and Spielberg didn’t go to plan. I’m sure that we can show our true level at Silverstone, which is a circuit that I really enjoy riding at. I have great memories there, including my first-ever victory in the 125cc class and some other solid results. I hope that we are going to try the new winglets too, which we are supposed to get at Silverstone so it will be interesting to work with the new aerodynamic parts. I’m sure our hard work will get us close to the top and I’m excited about the British GP challenge.”
