Pasini: “It’s important to be on the podium”

So close to the win and with another impressive result in P2

Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) got yet another podium finish at Silverstone, and from his third successive pole position. The Italian, who won earlier in the year at Mugello, was also incredibly close to the win, but after hunting down leader Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), couldn’t quite get past.

That said, the podium is important after some more difficult races – and even more so now the paddock heads to the Adriatic coast for Misano; another home race for Pasini.

Mattia Pasini, P2: “It was a beautiful race, but I struggled a lot in the first part and especially in the first two laps. That was my biggest mistake in this race because after the halfway point I was so strong, I had a good feeling with the bike and could push a lot. I was quite near to the win because on the last lap I caught Taka and I was faster, but it wasn’t enough. But second position is so good for me, after these races where I’ve been unlucky or had mistakes it’s important to be on the podium and I’m happy. For many riders Misano is a home race because we all live so close, and it’s important to arrive after a podium. We’ll see but I’m so happy and it’s important to arrive with this second place.”
