KymiRing motorsport center - under construction in Iitti, southern Finland - had the honor of welcoming high level guests last week when Minister for European Affairs, Culture and Sport, Sampo Terho, visited the venue ahead of Finland's debut on the MotoGP™ calendar in 2019.

KymiRing motorsport center is a wide and remarkable project both in regional and in national levels,” says Terho, who also highlighted the importance of KymiRing and the upcoming addition of Finland to the MotoGP™ calendar: “This project for sure gives a boost to Finnish motorsport. It is great to have significant events coming to Finland, such as MotoGP races. This project gives international visibility for Finland and the tourism improves the economic situation of the area.”
At KymiRing, minister Terho also met the project manager Timo Pohjola, managers of Iitti and Kouvola municipalities, the CEO of Finnish Motorcycling Federation Kurt Ljungqvist and the vice president of motorsport federation AKK, Markku Pietilä
Project manager Timo Pohjola had only good things to say about the visit of Minister Terho, with the collaboration working well as Finland prepares to join the MotoGP™ calendar: “Everything went well and our co-operation with Ministry of Education and Culture has been extremely good. Together we are making a future for Finnish sport and culture.”
