Pasini: “It was a great battle”

Italian veteran fought for the win at MotorLand

Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) watched as Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) escaped at the front at Aragon, but was able to reel in his compatriot later in the race and battle for the win – in stunning style. A contender for race of the season in Moto2™, the duel was a hard fought one – with Morbidelli just able to stay ahead by a tenth over the line.

Mattia Pasini, P2: “Morbidelli this year is untouchable because he is so strong. I enjoyed the race a lot and I knew that the start would be difficult with a full fuel tank, but lap-by-lap I could get my rhythm, enjoy the bike, try to pass Morbidelli and get away. But in the last three laps he came back and we were fighting; I enjoyed the fight a lot because we know each other well and it was a great battle. In the last lap he had a better Turn 4 than me and I couldn’t attack him, but anyway I am so happy because I like this type of race to fight for the podium and like this for the end of the season.”
