Martin fastest in Moto3™ on Day 1

Valencia GP winner picks up where he left off

Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) went quickest on Day 1 of Moto3™ testing at Valencia, topping the timesheets by three tenths ahead of Aron Canet (Estrella Galicia 0,0) as two of the veterans on track made a mark on Monday. Enea Bastianini (Leopard Racing), replacing outgoing Champion Joan Mir, was P3 as he settles into life at Leopard.

Rookie Alonso Lopez (Estrella Galicia 0,0) made an impressive debut following his podium at the venue in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship on Sunday, taking fourth of the 14 riders present. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) was fifth, ahead of Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse), Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Leopard Racing), Tony Arbolino (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers), Niccolo Antonelli (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and an impressive showing from Can Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) – who moves up to the CEV next season, rather than the Moto3™ World Championship. His twin brother Deniz was also out on track with the new Ajo project.

Testing continues tomorrow for those on track, as rookies settle in and team changes watch the grid shuffle.
