LCR Honda Castrol’s Cal Crutchlow suffered a nasty highside in the first part of qualifying on Saturday at the HJC Helmets Grand Prix de France, with his bike launching him over the handle bars when exiting Turn 9.
The Argentina GP winner landed heavily on his right side, with the bike then hitting him as it slid along the track. Attended to immediately by the trackside medics and marshals, Crutchlow gave a thumbs up to the crowd as he was stretchered away, before being transported to the medical centre. The three-time Grand Prix winner spent the night in Centre Hospitalier du Mans, but thankfully, after further examinations and precautionary tests, no fractures or major injuries were detected.
Crutchlow was discharged from hospital this morning, and was declared fit to take part in Sunday’s race. Fantastic news for the number 35, who finished P10 in morning Warm Up, and will start the race from P13.
