Remy Gardner (Tech 3 Racing) topped a wet and mixed FP3 session for the intermediate class in Austria, with the Aussie's wet weather prowess once again seeing him impress. The session began with light rain and fluctuated throughout between downpours at some corners and dry lines appearing at others, but it was exclusively a wet tyre affair.
An early incident saw recent form man Luca Marini (Sky Racing Team VR46) take an early, low drama tumble - rider ok - and some late drama saw the session conclude with a big crash for Championship leader Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) as the Portuguese rider was tagged by Iker Lecuona (Swiss Innovative Investors). Lecuona was second fastest in the session before overcooking it and hitting the rider ahead of him, with both going down. Oliveira ended the session in fourth, with Marcel Schroetter (Dynavolt Intact GP) splitting the two on the timesheets.
