Productive private test in Misano complete

On Sunday, five MotoGP™ teams were on track for a day of private testing ahead of the British GP

Before heading to the British GP, five teams from the premier class grid took a detour to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for a day of private testing, with one of the main aims being to gain some setup data for the San Marino GP on September 9th.

However, for Aprilia Racing Team Gresini’s Aleix Espargaro and Scott Redding, this one-day test provided an opportunity to try some new parts on the RS-GP, in particular with the engine and carbon swingarm. Redding expressed his delight on social media after a good day at the office, as did Espargaro, with the latter completing more than 100 laps.

No official data was available due to the test being private, however according to different sources, Austrian GP winner Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) set the fastest lap of the day – a 1:31.9. Teammate Andrea Dovizioso was also present and set an unofficial fastest lap of 1:32.5, with Michele Pirro joining the Ducati duo on track. The Bologna bullets completed a total of 236 laps around Misano as they gear up for Silverstone.

Movistar Yamaha MotoGP were also on track with both Valentino Rossi and Maverick Viñales trying to solve the issues that have faced them in 2018. The Italian covered 86 laps, with the Spaniard circulating 95 times.
