Lewis Hamilton to try a Petronas Yamaha SRT bike?

Both Morbidelli and Quartararo said they would be happy to see the five-time F1 champion give their MotoGP™ machines a go

At the Petronas Yamaha SRT and Petronas Sprinta Racing launch in Kuala Lumpur, crash.net spoke to MotoGP™ riders Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo, as well as Sepang CEO Razlan Razali, about the prospect of Lewis Hamilton being offered the chance to ride their new YZR-M1 machines.

Hamilton drives for the Petronas backed Mercedes F1 team and has expressed his desire to try a MotoGP™ bike on numerous occasions, with the Englishman joining Pata Yamaha WorldSBK riders Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark in Jerez over the winter for a couple of days on an R1M superbike.

Speaking to crash.net, Razali said: “Working with Petronas, they are very aggressive in their engagement and activation. I would not be surprised if sooner rather than later they get Lewis Hamilton involved.”

And what about Morbidelli and Quartararo? “If Lewis wants to try my MotoGP bike, I can give it to him right away – even if I can’t try the F1 car,” said the Italian.

“Yeah, yeah. No problem,” expressed Quartararo, who would also be more than happy to give four wheels a go if the offer was there.

Head over to crash.net to hear what else Morbidelli and Quartararo had to say about the potential of Hamilton trying their MotoGP™ bikes.
